3rd Chakra Meditation

Garrick and I were lucky enough to attend a Kirtan concert with Krishna Das this month. Wow! Chanting is so mysteriously powerful. It goes into those places where you have been hiding "stuff" and clears you out. I feel such an amazing spirit of love and peace when I am listening to any kind of chanting. One of my favorite chants is Hallelujah Shri Ram. Ram is the sound for your third Chakra, or energy center, located at your navel. This energy center represents your power, essentially your true Self, your Christ Self.  That light that came into this world all bright and shiny, with a purpose and love. I would like to invite you to explore this 3rd Chakra.

3rd Chakra Meditation:
Objective: Beginning to find awareness of your true Self

Find somewhere to sit that is comfortabe: a chair in a quiet room or a quiet corner of a park on a park bench is fine. There is no need to sit in any special position. However, I like to sit up straight in a possition that I can relax my body. Close your eyes and be still. Breath naturally and be conscious of your breathing in your belly. By this I mean bring your awarness to your belly area and feel how the breath moves your belly around your belly button. Notice how the belly expands as you inhale and how your belly pulls in gently as you exhale. You can envision the color yellow with this breathing if it feels natural to you. It is usually good to set a special time of the day and to use a timer-or you can begin and end your meditation naturally. Five munutes is what I started with, and I increased the time as I felt comfortable.
