Yoga is a vulnerable space to enter, which means it is also a brave space. Yoga practice is an opportunity to become and to witness yourself, it is also an opportunity to grow self-compassion, curiosity, and commitment.
Yoga 101 remote series is a 13 week live yoga class on Zoom (recorded for you to use in your home practice). The practice I will be sharing is one that I have culminated through many years of practice and teaching. It is essentially my practice! Each weekly practice is thoughtfully planned out and then allowed to evolve as my intuition guides me. The yoga sequence is based on Hatha and Tantra yoga, creatively intertwining these two systems to create a complete practice. Yoga 101 is designed to ease you into a complete yoga practice by gently introducing you to asana (with variations), pranayama (breath), sun salutations as well as the 12 basic poses (with modifications), mantra, kriya, and relaxation.
One pose, one breath, one mindful moment...together we cultivate the soil, new seeds are planted with intention and your dreams begin to manifest into reality.
Yoga 101 promises to provide you with new and valuable tools, intentional guidance, and support.
On top of the weekly practice you will receive the video recording to use on your own, a weekly email outlining what you learned in each practice including detailed instructions for each new pose, specific breath-work learned as well as the class sequence in stick figures. I have designed this series so that you continue to practice in between classes on your own and long after our time together is complete.

The manifestation of Yoga 101... my first very real experience of yoga was in 2009 at teacher training. It was a month long training at the Sivananda Ashram on Paradise Island in the Bahamas (right on the ocean). I was motivated to take this training for a few of different reasons...my yoga teacher at the time decided to close our local studio (this was before there were so many online classes) and probably the biggest motivation was that my mom passed away. At the time I was attending a weekly class, had done so for a year + and yoga was definitely helping me sort through my stuff, both internal and external. Being new to yoga I was very dependent on my teacher and so I was not prepared to practice on my own when the studio closed. I felt lost - that was when my life really began to change. I signed up for the training, refinanced the house to do it and then left for a month long teacher training. That month changed my life in so many ways, the sense of peace I felt by the end was indescribable other than to say I felt bliss. This is what yoga will do when truly applied to your life. So now I had all the tools to practice on my own and I went home with the confidence to continue on this path. What I found out is that practicing on your own is not as easy as it sounds. I stepped on to my yoga mat each day with just me, myself and I and even bigger than that, I was stepping into what was for me a brand new way of living yet in the same world I'd left a month ago. It takes self discipline and commitment to get on your mat each day especially when you are surrounded by folks that may not be living the same path. Over the years I have found ways to stay motivated and on the path, one of the boldest was to create a yoga space in the town where I lived. A place to gather other folks that were interested in walking the same path as me. It wasn't too long before I found a new teacher, one that would inspire me to grow and keep me moving forward on this path of life. And now here I am 20+ years in and still amazed at what yoga can do when applied consistently. My intention for Yoga 101 is to share my practice with you. I believe that this 13 week virtual series will help you start right where you are and in the comfort of your own space.
