Montenegro is a small country in Eastern Europe, rich with untouched landscapes and quiet, fairytale magic. High mountain pastures, deep valleys, over 35 lakes, and the world’s largest clean-water gorge unfold into an Adriatic coastline of secluded bays, wild beaches, and coastal villages shaped by time rather than trend.
This is a place that feels remembered rather than discovered.

Buljarica is one of the most authentic seaside villages in Montenegro—an unspoiled stretch of coast where the beach runs for more than a mile and the pace of life remains slow and intentional.
With only a handful of restaurants, a monastery, and a small local shop, this village has remained largely untouched by modern development. Simple. Quiet. Sacred.
The kind of place where the land still speaks.

Why Montenegro?
This retreat is deeply personal.
During my (Misty’s) childhood, I remember my mother speaking often of Montenegro—the homeland of her father, my grandfather Vuko. Though she had never been herself, she grew up hearing stories of a place where mountains meet the sea, a land both beautiful and unimaginable.
My grandparents emigrated to Chicago before my mother was born, back when this region was known as Yugoslavia. Montenegro lived on through memory, story, and longing.
When Dana and I began dreaming of hosting a retreat together, the choice was immediate and undeniable: Montenegro.
To gather on ancestral land.
To meet the place my lineage comes from.
To honor the past while creating something alive and new.
Our sisterhood has carried this vision with love and support, and we are deeply grateful to return—together—to the land that has been calling.
(And yes—Dana’s ancestors are from Italy… you can probably guess where we’re headed next.)

A sanctuary by the sea
Tucked into the quiet village of Buljarica, Mahakala Center is a sanctuary where nature, simplicity, and mindful living come together.
Cradled by Montenegro’s Black Mountains and overlooking the Adriatic Sea, this serene space invites rest, renewal, and deep reconnection.
Founded by a mother-daughter duo, Mahakala was created as a place to recharge, to gather in community, and to rediscover inner balance and peace—held by the land itself.

Daily, freshly prepared organic, plant-based cuisine will nourish your body and senses. Meals are made with love using homegrown vegetables, freshly baked bread crafted by local Montenegrin women, and pure mountain-sourced water.
The on-site spa offers massage, outdoor therapeutic baths, facials, scrubs, and select medical treatments available with Dr. Lemm, a specialist in scientific detox cuisine.

$500.00 deposit is due upon registration (deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable).
Remaining balance is due no later than February 11th (60 days prior to retreat start).

We would still love for you to join us if we have space available. Signing up after February 11th - full payment is due at time of registration, full payment is non-refundable.
You must have a passport to travel to Montenegro.

Payments made through Mistyoga website, Square, PayPal or Credit Card payments, a 3% fee is added to your retreat cost.

Cancellation Policy:
•Our cancellation policy is strict and firm. We strongly recommend that you purchase a cancellation/travel insurance policy to protect your investment: insuremytrip.com is a company that has a multitude of policies to choose from, including a “cancel for any reason” rider option (there are many other companies offering similar options). Typically, trip insurance must be purchased when you register for the retreat, not when you pay the final balance.
•$500.00 per person serves as a deposit and is both non-refundable and non-transferable.
•Cancellations on or before February 1st 2026: $500 deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable; the remainder of your payment will be refunded to you.
•Cancellations on or after February 1st, 2026 you forfeit ALL money rendered.
•Please do not make any travel arrangements before receiving confirmation of your registration.

Travel Info
Please plan your arrival into Podgorica Montenegro, it's a 55 min drive to Buljarica. Shuttle cost from Podgorica is approximately $64 for a shuttle with 4 people or $116 for a shuttle with 8 people (per trip). As we get closer to the retreat dates we are happy to help coordinate corresponding airport group shuttle per arrival/departure days.

Teachers
Dana Wood
Dana has been practicing Vinyasa, Hatha, and Power yoga for over 15 years and she has been teaching since 2017. Dana became a 200 RYT through Yoga Alliance in July 2019 while studying Tantra, Hatha, and Vinyasa through the Aumkar Yoga School in Cuso, Peru. In 2020 she completed Cultivating the Heart of a Warrior 200 YTT with Mistyoga (RYS). Dana's teaching focuses on form, alignment, pranayama, asanas, and meditation, giving each student a complete yoga experience. Her classes are accessible for all levels. Dana has a passion to empower others to experience the clarity, light, and love that is yoga. |
Misty Mason
Misty is a free spirited artist and Colorado native with 22 years of personal yoga experience. She offers a depth of knowledge in the yogic tradition with RYT 200 - Sivananda Yoga, 300 hours of Master Trainings -Para Yoga and E-RYT 500 and YASEP - Yoga Alliance. Misty lives in Rifle Colorado where she has worked tirelessly since 2009 to build a strong yoga community known as Mistyoga, a RYS (registered yoga school) with Yoga Alliance. Along side her passion for yoga Misty is a cross cultural Shamanic practitioner, Shamanic Teacher and Reiki Master. Using these combined forces she has unique and personal approach to guiding you into a deeper understanding of yourself, and empowering you to live your dreams. |
